Response to William Blake's The Tyger

here is my poem

The Stars
By: Kayla Murphy|

Oh beautiful stars of night
What makes you burn so big and bright?
Scattered wonderfully throughout the sky,
Emitting beauty to thy blind eye.

What's it like up there, so high?
Do you laugh? Do you cry?
What makes you twinkle, little star?
Tell me please just how you are.

Guiding travelers on their ways,
Providing light at the end of days.
Oh beautiful stars of night
What makes you burn so big and bright?

Spiders
by: Kristen Kus

You may be so small
But many people live in fear
That you, so tiny will harm
It's as if you are a bear
Let out a scream AHH!
But oh, its only you
A tiny, little spider
Running to find safety
From my shoe
Mighty Ocean
Lauren Wasilewski

Mighty ocean,
rolling in and out, in and out,
why do you never stay still?
what are you saying with your sound?
Mighty ocean,
crashing waves and spraying salt,
how do you reach all ends of the Earth?
Are you friends with the moon?
Mighty ocean,
mysterious and unknown.

Ask a Tadpole

Tadpole, where are you rushing off to?
You have no defenses so you do not go off to fight.
You have no limbs so you do not go off to race.
You have no voice so you do not go off to be heard.
Yet you rush and dart about the pond until
the time comes when it is YOU they rush and dart from.

Butterfly
Michelle Laing

Butterfly, how did you get so beautiful?
Your colors are bright and marvelous
Butterfly, how did you get so beautiful?
You fly through the air so gracefully
Butterfly, how did you get so beautiful?
You look so peaceful when you land on the flowers
Butterfly, how did you get so beautiful?
Your wings spread like the sea as you fly
Butterfly, how did you get so beautiful?
The Necklace
By: Khabria Hundley

Oh necklace, why do you sparkle so much?
A necklace so precious and beautiful, why do you shine so brightly?
Tell me how you sparkle and shine
Could it be where you came from?
Should I handle with care?
I can see through you
Your outside is clear as day
Your radiance blinds me as I go to put you on
Your are as light as a feather and are as bright as the sunshine
I want to share your beauty with the world
Tell me how you sparkle and shine
Oh necklace, why are you so beautiful?

Praying Mantis
by Marie Tondre

Praying Mantis so delicate and light,
Why must you eat every bug in sight?

You look so holy and so peaceful.
Some think you're mean but I think you're useful.

Praying Mantis are you making brown lace?
Could that be your new egg case?

You look so serene.
Where do you go when the leaves aren't green?

Praying Mantis, next spring when you're not here,
Will I see you're 200 babies everywhere?

Lily
Kristen Nelson

Lillies are a beautiful sight,
Soft colors of white and pink.
One opens up to hear me speak.
"Where does your beauty come from?"
"It is who I am".
"How can I be like you?"
"Be yourself and your own beauty will shine through!"

Beach
Kara Morgenstern
Ocean,do you ever get tired of crashing?
Sand, do you like being tuned in to a castle?
Do you get lonely in the winter?
Woodpecker
Julie Coiro

Oh woodpecker,
where did you get
that bright red tuft atop your head?
that long thin beak that pecks
those piercing holes
in the tall tree in my backyard.

Why do you peck anyway?
It is out of hunger? boredom?
Are you sharpening your beak?
Calling for a lost friend?

Does it hurt ...
when you make those loud pecking noises
that I hear outside my window in the morning?

It's funny - the sound used to bother me -
but now -
I look forward to hearing it because
I know that you've awoken for the day.

And you will soon fly down
to enjoy your breakfast
from the bird feeder on my deck.

Dolphin

Does your body feel as smooth as it seems?
As you sail through the water oh how it gleems.
Does your strength come from within?
Forceful enough to dent a shark like tin.
What do you say to one another with your shrill like calls?
Is it words of joy wisdom? sounds that echo in a place without walls.
You seem to love with all your heart.
You and your child never seem far apart.
Would you swim with me if I asked you to?
Scale the waters the whole day through
With speed and precision amongst the waves
A trait that every sailor craves Lovely dolphins do you love your sea
For it seems a perfect match, it and thee

The Moon
The Fairy

Don't be shy, I just want to talk
where did you get your wings?
You are so small and graceful
why do you cause such mischief?
You laugh, do you find it fun
to hide keys and steal brides?
Oh, mischief maker,
Can i be a fairy too?
Give me wings that let me fly
To this land we'll say goodbye
Luminous lunar guide
Why do you light up the sky?
When the sun has gone home
and the sky is dark
you come out to play.
Each night I watch you grow and wane
When your a crescent where has the rest of you gone?
Are you really made of cheese?
Are the stars your friends?
Why is the man on the moon always smiling?
Where do you go when the sun comes out?
Mortal enemies? Or constant companions
taking turns keeping a watchful eye on the world?

Ocean Blue
Ocean blue, vast and wide
My backyard is your seaside.
How deep do you go?
How far do you reach?
How lucky I am, to live by the beach.
Do you see me basking in the sun?
Do you know you're loved by everyone?
Will your perfect waves be big today?
Will your seashells be found by children at play?
Ocean Blue, vast and wide
My backyard is your seaside.

Forces
by Julie Coiro

A push -
A pull -
energy, moving, stopping,
changing direction.

Velocity, acceleration, and momentum
Yet - balanced forces are equal in size
and cause no change in motion.

Your heart is the ultimate force -
pushing life through your body.
Force
Force can be described in many different ways
An object can turn left or right,
A force can make it go or stay.
Exertion of energy is how it's defined,
Forces were discovered in Isaac Newton's mind.

Force
by Marie Tondre

Isaac Newton, just 22
Apple falls
Discovers force
Moon pulls
Explosions push

Negative & positive find attraction
Start moving
Stop moving
Change direction
MORE is FASTER
LESS is SLOWER
2 together in direction is
unbalanced,
changes motion
2 act in opposite is
balanced,
no change in motion

Fire
Fire waits until the earth is thirsty
arroused by temperature, it craves satisfaction
selfishly, it feeds on everything in its path
creeping in then blazing fast
it takes its time enjoying natures feast.

Sunny Summer Day
Blowing ever so gently
Thankfully cools us

It touches me so warmly
Please don't let it stop.
